A new season is looming around the corner as 21 Heron Lake-Okabena High School athletes are putting in lots of miles preparing for the 2016 cross country campaign.
With a total of 13 returning 2015 letter winners — five girls and eight boys — the Wildcats will strive to experience levels of success both individually and team wise as the upcoming fall unfolds.
“We’re excited about the group of runners we have,” declares long-time HL-O head cross country coach Les Knutson, who is again being assisted by the ever-enthusiastic Gary Hildebrandt, the school’s head track and field coach in the spring. “We have a good mix of girls and boys and everybody is coming to practice each day with the right attitude and work ethic.”
