OWATONNA, MN - Doherty Staffing Solutions executives presented a check for $15,000 to Minnesota West Community and Technical College (MN West) in a brief meeting at the Doherty office in Owatonna, Minnesota, on Monday, October 22. On hand to accept the funds for MN West were Dawn Regnier, Director of Customized Training, Les Kvam, Program Coordinator - Manufacturing & Trade, and Dr. Richard Shrubb, President of the Worthington campus. Doherty's donation to MNWest is the first fundraising project the staffing company has completed for the college.
The Minneapolis staffing agency's first contribution to MN West will go to supporting welder training.
The funds are earmarked for a new portable classroom on campus, a self-contained welding trailer. The welding training program is a jobs initiative partially funded by the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Board for students and dislocated workers in rural Minnesota, to address a shortage of skilled welders in the region.
Working toward a bright future for southwestern Minnesota students and residents
