Filings completed in area

Several area Mayoral, City Council and School Board positions will be decided at the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8. Filings closed last week for the positions. Candidates filing in area towns and the local school boards are as follows.

City of Heron Lake

Jason Freking filed for Mayor, a two-year term. Freking is the current Mayor of Heron Lake.

Filing for the two open City Council seats are incumbents John Hay and Glenn Kuhnau and candidates Andrew Rasche and Daniel Perrizo. The two City Council seats are four-year terms.

City of Round Lake

Two Council Member positions will be filled at the November election. Each position is a four year term. Round Lake will also be electing a Mayor, for a four-year term.

Filing for Mayor are Douglas D. Knuth and Keith R. Stubbe.

Filing for the two City Council positions are: Dennis Bucholz, Paul Cunningham, Gary Larson, and Jerry A. Wood.

City of Okabena

Two Council positions for a four-year term and the Mayor position for a two-year term.

There are two filings for the two positions for Council – Joshua Zuehlke, incumbent and LeAnn Warner.

Brent Groen, incumbent, re-filed for the mayoral position.

City of Brewster

Two Council Members will be elected for four year terms and a Mayor for a two year term. Randy Schmitz filed for the mayoral seat. Only one person filed for the two open City Council positions, John Garmer.

HLO School Board

Three board members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four years each. Terri Stenzel, Jeanie Rasche and Robert Egge filed for the positions. Stenzel and Rasche are incumbents. Jill Liepold did not re-file as an incumbent.

RLB School Board

Two members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four years each. The board is being scaled down by two positions, due to the consolidation restructuring process.

Those filing are: Ronda Sammons, Robert Bohn, Trevor Wintz, and Josiah Leighty.
