Jottings by Jerry – August 3

It was a fine weekend with weather that was most comfortable. The warm up came Monday and with it the threat of severe weather. Although we are not desperate for rain, we could use some. The local sweet corn is ready and is really good this year.

August is fair month with Jackson, Nobles and Murray County, in that order, with each having its own week. There has been some doubling up with both Nobles and Murray falling on the same week but not this year. Fairs are a great place to see the pride that is felt by the residence towards their own county.

The summer has been going fast with less than five weeks before school starts which will end a lot of vacations. The big entertainment for weekends starting August 20 to October 2 is the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Seven weekends plus Labor Day and Festival Friday on September 30th. There are new events added this year like the Wizards Flight School Zipline all the way to Whiskey & Scotch Tasting. The endless booths tempting you with original pieces of art and hand crafted one of a kind creations. Yes, I’m going and I have some free tickets available to you and your family. Give us a call and we will set aside up to four tickets free for you.

    Have a good week.
