Nathan and Evan Madsen of Okabena, Matt and Sarah Madsen of Heron Lake, and Anna and David Volk of Heron Lake, have won Religious Education Assistance Program awards from the Catholic Order of Foresters. All are members of the COF local court St. Cyril 970, Heron Lake, Minn. and are parishioners at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. All participate in a local religious education program.
Nathan and Evan attend Heron Lake-Okabena Elementary School. Matt, Sarah, Anna, and David attend Heron Lake-Okabena High School in Okabena.
Annually, COF gives away 100 $50 tuition assistance awards to members attending a Catholic religious education program. These members are required to be public school students attending any grade from kindergarten through 12th. Student members may apply once every year they are enrolled in a Catholic religious education program. Eligibility to apply is immediate upon becoming a member.
