32 children were enrolled in Vacation Bible School at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okabena during the week of July 24. The five-day program was built around a Bible Museum theme, in which the children considered a variety of “artifacts” and witnessed “live” museum displays each night.
Appearing through the week were Joseph, with his coat of many colors, a shepherd, David, King Josiah, and Mary of Bethany. The sessions emphasized both our need for a Savior and the salvation that Jesus has won for all people, under the headings, “Forgiveness,” “Faithfulness,” “Kindness,” “Dedication,” and “Love.”
The students enjoyed themed snacks and “Capture the Flag” activities. They worked on a variety of crafts that helped to reinforce the lesson for the day. Those in Grades 6-8 worked on flannel graph pieces that will be sent to our churches in India.
St. John’s operates a Christian Day School (starts August 23), a Preschool (begins Thursday after Labor Day), and a weekly Sunday School (resumes September 11).
